उगी हे सूरज देव, अरघ देतानी छठी माई के।
छठ माई के महिमा अपरम्पार, भक्ति में डूबे सब भाई के॥
केरवा जे फरेला घवद से, ओह पर सुगा मेड़राय।
उ जे खबरिया जनइबो अदितिया से, सुगा देले जूठियाय॥
पटना के घाट पर नदिया किनारे, छठ पूजा हो रही।
सूर्य देव को अर्घ्य दे रहे, सब मिल गीत गा रहीं॥
कांच ही बाँस के बहंगिया, बहंगी लचकत जाय।

Ugi he Suraj Dev, aragh detani Chhathi Mai ke,
Chhath Mai ke mahima aparampaar, bhakti mein doobe sab bhai ke.
Kerwa je farela ghavad se, oh par suga medraay,
U je khabariya janaibo Aditiya se, suga dele joothiyaay.
Patna ke ghat par nadiya kinare, Chhath Puja ho rahi,
Surya Dev ko arghya de rahe, sab mil geet ga rahin.
Kanch hi baans ke bahangiya, bahangi lachkat jaay,
Thekua prasad chadhavo, Chhathi Mai muskay.
Ugte Suraj ko pranam, doobte Suraj ko pranam,
Chhath Mai ki Jai bolo, poore honge sab kaam.
The Sun God has risen — offering arghya (water oblation) to Chhathi Mai (Goddess of the sixth day). The glory of Chhath Mai is boundless, all are immersed in devotion. The banana plant bears fruit, and the parrot sits upon it — this offering news reaches Lord Aditya (Sun). On the ghats of Patna by the river, Chhath Puja is being performed. Everyone offers arghya to Surya Dev and sings together. The bamboo carrying-pole sways with offerings — offer thekua (traditional sweet) and Chhathi Mai smiles. Salutations to the rising sun, salutations to the setting sun — say “Jai Chhath Mai” and all wishes will be fulfilled.
