When a person is handed a plain sheet of paper and asked to draw a house, a tree, and a person, the conscious intellectual filter relaxes, allowing the subconscious mind to project its core emotional state, childhood conditioning, and unresolved conflicts directly onto the canvas. Pioneered by clinical psychologist John N. Buck in 1948, the House-Tree-Person (HTP) test is one of the most respected projective psychometric instruments in psychological assessment. The AI Drawing Analysis Studio analyzes user drawings to evaluate spatial allocation, stroke velocity, structural features, and symbolic archetypes without clinical intimidation.
The Three Core Archetypes of HTP Analysis
| Drawn Subject | Subconscious Domain | Key Diagnostic Details | Healthy Psychological Presentation |
|---|---|---|---|
| The House (Griha) | Domestic security, family relationships, ego shelter | Roof proportions (fantasy life), windows/doors (openness vs defensive isolation), chimneys | Balanced roof with accessible door and clear, open windows |
| The Tree (Vriksha) | Core life energy, developmental history, psychological resilience | Trunk thickness (ego strength), root anchorage (groundedness), foliage density (vitality) | Sturdy trunk firmly anchored in soil with vibrant, expansive branch structure |
| The Person (Manava) | Direct self-image, social interpersonal comfort, body boundary | Facial expression, limb extension, clothing detail, postural stability | Complete human figure with friendly expression and grounded feet |
