The universal care principles

These are the safest default habits when you do not yet know the exact material tolerance of a product. They reduce avoidable wear without assuming every crystal, coating or finish behaves the same way.

Handle with clean, dry hands

Oil, moisture, cosmetics and residue from the skin can gradually transfer to beads, decks, metal finishes and polished surfaces.

Use a soft cloth first

For routine dust and surface marks, begin with a clean, soft, dry cloth rather than water, detergent, alcohol or abrasive cleaners.

Keep away from extremes

Avoid leaving products in strong sun, high heat, very damp areas or near sudden temperature changes unless the item is designed for that environment.

Give each item its own space

Separate storage helps protect polished stones, beads, metal finishes, printed cards, threads and delicate surfaces from rubbing and pressure.

Water, salt and sunlight are not universal cleansing methods.

Do not soak, place in salt, expose to prolonged sunlight, use chemical cleaners, or apply oils merely because a method is described as a traditional or spiritual cleansing practice. Different minerals, finishes, threads, adhesives and coatings react differently. Physical product safety comes first.

  • Dust or wipe gently with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
  • Handle polished surfaces carefully to reduce scratches and chips.
  • Check product-specific instructions before using any moisture.
Avoid by default
  • Do not assume a crystal can be soaked in water.
  • Avoid salt, detergents, alcohol and household cleaners.
  • Avoid long exposure to strong sunlight or high heat.
Storage
  • Store individually or use soft dividers where practical.
  • Keep fragile points and edges away from hard impacts.
  • Use a clean, dry area away from direct sun and dampness.
Optional spiritual practice: If you personally use a traditional cleansing or intention-setting practice, choose a method that does not risk the physical material. Sound, quiet reflection or simply placing the item in a clean dry space are non-contact options.

Bracelets & Beaded Jewellery

Elastic bracelets, gemstone beads, charms and mixed-material jewellery.

Routine care
  • Roll the bracelet gently over the hand instead of pulling the elastic hard.
  • Wipe beads and charms with a soft dry cloth after wear.
  • Remove before bathing, swimming or heavy exercise unless explicitly sold for that use.

  • Keep perfume, sanitiser, hairspray and cosmetics away from the bracelet.
  • Avoid repeated stretching, twisting or sleeping on delicate bracelets.
  • Do not soak elastic, glued components or plated charms.
Storage
  • Lay flat or place loosely in a pouch rather than keeping it stretched.

  • Store dry, especially after perspiration or humid conditions.
Elastic is a wearable component: Over time, elastic can naturally lose tension. Gentle handling, less exposure to heat and chemicals, and avoiding unnecessary stretching can extend its useful life.

Rudraksha & Malas

Natural Rudraksha beads, prayer malas, threads, cords and mixed bead combinations.

Routine care
  • Handle with clean hands and wipe gently with a dry soft cloth when needed.
  • Keep threads, knots and cords free from repeated pulling or snagging.
  • If a product includes special conditioning instructions, follow those instructions only.
Avoid by default
  • Avoid perfumes, harsh cleaners, alcohol and sanitiser.
  • Do not leave natural beads continuously wet or stored damp.
  • Do not apply oil or other substances unless the specific product guidance recommends it.
Storage
  • Keep in a clean, dry pouch or box when not in use.
  • Allow any incidental moisture to dry before storing.
  • Avoid crushing the beads or folding the mala tightly under heavy objects.

Tarot, Oracle & Card Decks

Routine care
  • Allow items to cool fully before touching or cleaning after heat-related use.
  • Remove dust and dry residue gently with a soft cloth or suitable soft brush.
  • Follow the product instructions for any item designed to hold incense, candles or heat.

Safety takes priority: A spiritual or ritual use does not change normal fire, ventilation or material-safety requirements. Always use heat- and flame-related products according to their specific instructions.

Metal, Plated & Décor Items

  • Use a clean, soft, dry cloth for routine fingerprints and dust.
  • Hold items by stable areas rather than delicate projections or decorative parts.
  • Check whether a piece is solid metal, plated, painted or mixed-material before polishing.

  • Do not use abrasive polish or metal cleaner unless suitable for the exact finish.
  • Keep perfumes, acids, salts and chemical cleaners away from plated surfaces.
  • Avoid prolonged dampness and storing metal while wet.
Storage
  • Store dry and, when practical, separately from hard objects that may scratch the surface.
  • Use soft wrapping for delicate plated or polished items.
  • Expect some natural surface change on certain metals over time; do not aggressively polish without checking the material.
Mixed materials need mixed care: If metal is attached to stone, thread, wood, adhesive or another finish, choose a method that is safe for the most delicate component.

You do not need a complicated process. A short routine after use is usually more useful than occasional aggressive cleaning.

Check

Look for moisture, dust, stretched thread, loose components, residue or anything that needs attention before storage.

Wipe gently

Use the least aggressive safe method first—usually a clean soft dry cloth unless the product instructions say otherwise.

Let it settle

If the product became warm, damp or exposed to perspiration, allow it to return to a dry normal condition before storing.

Store separately

Use the original box, a soft pouch or a clean compartment that protects the product from pressure, dust, moisture and friction.

Frequently Asked Questions

Care questions that come up often

General guidance can only go so far because products may use different stones, finishes, coatings, threads and manufacturing methods.

Can I wash my crystal or gemstone product with water?
Do not assume that water is safe. Some stones, coatings, metal parts, threads, elastic, adhesives or finishes may be affected by soaking or repeated moisture. Use the product-specific instructions first. If none are available, begin with a soft dry cloth rather than immersion.
Can I wear my bracelet in the shower or swimming pool?
The safer default is to remove it. Repeated water exposure, soaps, chlorine, salt water, heat and stretching can affect elastic, thread, metal finishes and some stones or decorative components.
Should I put crystals or jewellery in sunlight to “charge” them?
Prolonged direct sunlight is not a universal care method and can affect some colours, finishes and other materials. If you use a personal spiritual practice, choose a method compatible with the physical product.
Can I use salt for cleansing?
Do not place a product in salt unless the material-specific instructions explicitly say that the full product is suitable for it. Salt can be abrasive or interact with metals, surfaces and other components.
What is the safest way to clean a Tarot or oracle deck?
Preventive care is best: clean dry hands, a clean reading surface and proper storage. Do not use liquid cleaners or wet wipes on printed cards unless the manufacturer specifically permits it.
What if my product contains several different materials?
Use the care method appropriate for the most delicate part of the product. For example, a gemstone bracelet may also contain elastic, glue, metal plating or charms, so a method that is safe for the stone alone may still be unsuitable for the complete bracelet.
Is spiritual cleansing required before using a Kriyasya product?
No universal spiritual practice is required by this care guide. Spiritual cleansing, intention-setting or ritual practices are personal or traditional choices. Physical care and material safety should remain separate considerations.
