About

Lord Balarama

Lord Balarama is the elder brother of Krishna, an avatar of Shesha Naga, and the plough-bearing embodiment of divine strength. He is known as Dauji, Baladeva, and Halayudha. Some Vaishnava traditions include him as the eighth Dashavatara in place of Buddha.

Significance

Balarama signifies support, protection, agriculture, strength, and earthy simplicity. He is the sustaining force behind Krishna's leela, a farmer-warrior form, and his neutrality in the Mahabharata represents a subtle dimension of dharma.
