अर्थ: श्री गुरुदेव के चरणों का ध्यान हृदय में धारण कर, सच्चिदानंद स्वरूप परमेश्वर का स्मरण करें।

Meditating upon the feet of the revered Guru, one should remember the Supreme Lord, who is of the nature of Sat-Chit-Ananda (Existence-Consciousness-Bliss).

अर्थ: यह श्री श्याम चालीसा चौपाई छंद में रची जा रही है।

This Shri Shyam Chalisa is being composed in the Chaupai meter.

अर्थ: श्याम नाम का बार-बार भजन करने से, यह भवसागर सहजता से पार हो जाता है।

By repeatedly chanting the name "Shyam," one can easily cross the ocean of worldly existence.

अर्थ: आप (श्याम बाबा) भीम के सुपुत्र घटोत्कच और अहिलावती के पुत्र हैं, और इस प्रकार भीम के पौत्र कहलाए।

You (Shyam Baba) are the son of Bhima's noble son Ghatotkacha and Ahilawati, and thus came to be known as Bhima's grandson.

अर्थ: यह सारी कथा युगों-युगों से कही जाती रही है; इसमें तनिक भी संदेह न करें।

This entire narrative has been recounted across countless ages; do not harbor even the slightest doubt about it.

अर्थ: बर्बरीक भगवान विष्णु के अवतार हैं, जिन्होंने अपने भक्तों के कल्याण के लिए मनुष्य का शरीर धारण किया।

Barbarik is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who took on a human form for the welfare of His devotees.

अर्थ: वे वासुदेव और देवकी के प्रिय पुत्र हैं, और यशोदा मैया तथा नंद बाबा के दुलारे हैं।

He is the beloved son of Vasudev and Devaki, and the darling of Mother Yashoda and Nanda Baba.

अर्थ: वे मधुसूदन (मधु नामक राक्षस का वध करने वाले), गोपाल (गायों के पालक), मुरारी (मुर नामक राक्षस का वध करने वाले), वृजकिशोर (वृज के युवा राजकुमार) और गोवर्धन धारी (गोवर्धन पर्वत को धारण करने वाले) हैं।

He is Madhusudan (slayer of the demon Madhu), Gopal (protector of cows), Murari (slayer of the demon Mura), Vrajkishor (the youthful prince of Vraj), and Govardhan Dhari (the lifter of Govardhan Hill).

अर्थ: वे सियाराम (सीता और राम), श्री हरि (समस्त दुखों को हरने वाले), गोविंदा (इंद्रियों को आनंद देने वाले), दीनपाल (दीनों के रक्षक) और श्री बाल मुकुंदा (बाल रूप में मुक्ति देने वाले) हैं।

He is Siyaram (Sita and Rama), Shri Hari (remover of all miseries), Govinda (one who pleases the senses), Dinpal (protector of the humble), and Shri Bal Mukunda (the youthful giver of liberation).

अर्थ: वे दामोदर (जिनके पेट पर रस्सी बंधी थी), रणछोड़ बिहारी (युद्धभूमि छोड़कर भागने वाले), नाथ द्वारिकाधीश (द्वारका के स्वामी) और खरारी (खर नामक राक्षस का वध करने वाले) हैं।

He is Damodar (one whose belly was tied with a rope), Ranchhod Bihari (one who left the battlefield), Nath Dwarikadhish (Lord of Dwarka), and Kharari (slayer of the demon Khara).

अर्थ: वे राधा के प्रियतम, रुक्मिणी के पति, गोपियों के प्राणप्रिय और कंस का संहार करने वाले हैं।

He is the beloved of Radha, the husband of Rukmini, the darling of the Gopis, and the annihilator of Kansa.

अर्थ: वे मन को मोहित करने वाले और चित्त को चुराने वाले कहलाते हैं, जिन्होंने बचपन में प्रेमपूर्वक माखन चुराकर खाया।

He is known as the enchanter of the mind and the thief of the heart, who lovingly stole and ate butter in His childhood.

अर्थ: वे मुरली धारण करने वाले, यदुवंश के स्वामी, मेघ के समान श्याम वर्ण वाले कृष्ण हैं, जो पतितों को पवित्र करने वाले और अत्यंत सुंदर हैं।

He is the flute-bearer, the Lord of the Yadu dynasty, Krishna with a dark complexion like a cloud, the purifier of the fallen, and supremely beautiful.

अर्थ: वे माया के स्वामी, लक्ष्मी के पति, परमेश्वर, पुरुषों में उत्तम (पुरुषोत्तम), केशव और संपूर्ण जगत के स्वामी हैं।

He is the master of illusion (Maya), the consort of Lakshmi, the Supreme Lord, the best among men (Purushottam), Keshav, and the Lord of the entire universe.

अर्थ: वे संपूर्ण विश्व के स्वामी हैं, जिन्होंने समस्त भुवनों का विस्तार किया है; वे दीनों के बंधु और भक्तों के रक्षक हैं।

He is the Lord of the entire universe, who has expanded all the realms; He is the friend of the humble and the protector of His devotees.

अर्थ: प्रभु के वास्तविक स्वरूप और उनकी लीलाओं का रहस्य कोई भी नहीं जान पाया है; यहाँ तक कि शेषनाग, भगवान शिव और बड़े-बड़े मुनि भी उन्हें पूरी तरह समझने में असमर्थ रहे हैं।

No one has been able to fully comprehend the Lord's true nature and His divine pastimes; even Sheshnag, Lord Shiva, and great sages have become weary in their attempts to understand Him completely.

अर्थ: देवर्षि नारद, विद्या की देवी शारदा (सरस्वती), अन्य ऋषिगण और बड़े-बड़े योगी भी निरंतर 'श्याम-श्याम' नाम का ही जाप करते रहते हैं।

Even the divine sage Narada, the goddess of knowledge Sharada (Saraswati), other revered sages, and great yogis constantly chant the name 'Shyam-Shyam'.

अर्थ: करोड़ों कवि और ज्ञानी भी आपके असंख्य नामों को गिनने में असमर्थ हैं। आपके नाम अपार, अथाह और अनंत हैं।

Even millions of poets and wise individuals are unable to count Your countless names. Your names are boundless, unfathomable, and infinite.

अर्थ: हे भाई! प्रत्येक सृष्टि और प्रत्येक युग में भगवान का यह अवतार भक्तों को सुख प्रदान करने वाला होता है।

O brother! In every creation and every age, this incarnation of the Lord brings immense joy and solace to His devotees.

अर्थ: अपने हृदय में यह विचार करके देखो कि यदि तुम श्याम बाबा का भजन करोगे, तो निश्चित रूप से तुम्हारा उद्धार हो जाएगा और तुम्हें भवसागर से मुक्ति मिलेगी।

Reflect within your heart and realize that by worshiping Lord Shyam, you will surely attain liberation and be freed from the ocean of worldly existence.

अर्थ: प्रभु ने गणिका (पिंगला) को ज्ञान देकर तार दिया और भीलनी (शबरी) की भक्ति पर तो वे न्योछावर हो गए।

The Lord enlightened and liberated the courtesan (Pingala), and was completely captivated by the devotion of the Bhil woman (Shabari).

अर्थ: सती अहिल्या, जो महर्षि गौतम की पत्नी थीं, एक शाप के कारण पत्थर की प्रिय मूर्ति बन गई थीं।

The chaste Ahalya, wife of Sage Gautama, had, due to a curse, become a beloved stone.

अर्थ: (अहिल्या ने) श्याम (राम) के चरण रज को अपने चित्त में धारण किया और अपने पति लोक (वैकुंठ) को प्राप्त हुईं।

(Ahalya) absorbed the dust of Shyam's (Rama's) feet into her heart and attained her husband's abode (Vaikuntha).

अर्थ: अजामिल और सदन कसाई जैसे पापियों ने भी भगवान के नाम के प्रताप से परम गति (मोक्ष) को प्राप्त किया।

Even sinners like Ajamila and Sadan the butcher attained the supreme state (liberation) through the glory of the Lord's name.

अर्थ: जिसने श्याम नाम का आश्रय लिया है, उसे सुख की प्राप्ति होती है और उसके सारे दुःख दूर हो जाते हैं।

One who takes the support of Shyam's name attains happiness, and all their sorrows are dispelled.

अर्थ: श्याम अत्यंत मनमोहक और परम सुंदर हैं। उनके शीश पर मोर पंखों का मुकुट सुशोभित है और शरीर पर पीले वस्त्र (पीतांबर) धारण किए हुए हैं।

Shyam is exceedingly charming and supremely beautiful. A peacock-feather crown adorns His head, and He is clad in yellow garments (Pitambar).

अर्थ: उनके गले में वैजयंती फूलों की माला अत्यंत शोभायमान है। उनकी यह अनुपम और अद्वितीय छवि भक्तों के मन को अत्यंत प्रिय लगती है।

A garland of Vaijayanti flowers gracefully adorns His neck. This incomparable and unique form is exceedingly dear to the hearts of His devotees.

अर्थ: दिन-रात, सुबह-शाम और दोपहर, हर पल निरंतर श्याम नाम का स्मरण करते रहना चाहिए।

One should continuously remember and chant the name of Shyam day and night, morning, evening, and noon, at every moment.

अर्थ: जिस जीवन-रथ के सारथी स्वयं भगवान श्याम होते हैं, उसके मार्ग की समस्त बाधाएँ और कठिनाइयाँ स्वतः ही दूर हो जाती हैं।

For the chariot of life whose charioteer is Lord Shyam Himself, all obstacles and difficulties on its path are automatically removed.

अर्थ: श्याम का सच्चा भक्त कभी किसी परिस्थिति में हार नहीं मानता। जब भी उस पर कोई संकट या विपत्ति आती है, वह तुरंत श्याम बाबा को पुकारता है।

A true devotee of Shyam never accepts defeat in any situation. Whenever they face any crisis or adversity, they immediately call out to Shyam Baba.

अर्थ: हे जिह्वा! श्याम नाम के अमृत रस का पान कर। श्याम नाम के सहारे ही अपना जीवन व्यतीत कर।

O tongue, drink the nectar of Shyam's name. Live your life solely by the support of Shyam's name.

अर्थ: संसार के सुखों का उपभोग भी प्राप्त होगा, और अंत में श्याम की कृपा से परम आध्यात्मिक सुख की प्राप्ति होगी।

Worldly pleasures and enjoyments will be attained, and ultimately, through Shyam's grace, supreme spiritual bliss will be received.

अर्थ: श्याम प्रभु का शरीर भले ही श्याम वर्ण का है, परंतु उनका मन अत्यंत उज्ज्वल, सरल और भोला है।

Lord Shyam's body may be dark-complexioned, but His heart is exceedingly pure, simple, and innocent.

अर्थ: श्याम प्रभु संतों और भक्तों का कल्याण करने वाले हैं। वे समस्त रोगों, दोषों और भयंकर पापों का नाश करते हैं।

Lord Shyam is the benefactor of saints and devotees. He destroys all diseases, faults, and grievous sins.

अर्थ: जब कोई भक्त प्रेम और श्रद्धा से श्याम का नाम पुकारता है, तो वह भक्त श्याम को अत्यंत प्रिय हो जाता है।

When a devotee calls out Shyam's name with love and devotion, that devotee becomes exceedingly dear to Shyam.

अर्थ: खाटू धाम में वही मथुरा के निवासी, पूर्ण परब्रह्म, अविनाशी प्रभु श्याम रूप में विराजमान हैं।

In Khatu Dham resides the very Lord of Mathura, the complete Supreme Brahman, the imperishable Lord Shyam.

अर्थ: उन्होंने अमृतमयी धुन से अपनी मुरली बजाई, जिसकी मधुर ध्वनि चारों दिशाओं में गूँज उठी और सबने उसे सुना।

He played His flute with a nectar-filled melody, whose sweet sound resonated in all four directions and was heard by everyone.

अर्थ: बूढ़े, बच्चे, स्त्रियाँ और पुरुष – सभी उस बंशी के स्वर को सुनकर मोहित हो गए और अपनी सुध-बुध खो बैठे।

Elders, children, women, and men – all were enchanted upon hearing the sound of that flute, losing themselves in its melody.

अर्थ: सभी लोग अत्यंत उत्सुकता और शीघ्रता से खाटू धाम की ओर दौड़ पड़े, जहाँ स्वयं श्याम कन्हाई विराजमान हैं।

Everyone rushed with great eagerness and haste towards Khatu Dham, where Lord Shyam Kanhai Himself resides.

अर्थ: जिस भी भाग्यशाली भक्त ने श्याम बाबा के दिव्य स्वरूप का दर्शन किया, उसे इस संसार के जन्म-मृत्यु के चक्र और समस्त भयों से मुक्ति मिल गई।

Any fortunate devotee who beheld the divine form of Shyam Baba attained liberation from the cycle of birth and death and all fears of this worldly existence.

अर्थ: हे श्याम, आप अत्यंत सुंदर और सांवले रंग के हैं, और आपने बर्बरीक का दिव्य रूप धारण किया है।

O Shyam, you are exquisitely beautiful and dark-hued, having assumed the divine form of Barbarik.

अर्थ: हे श्याम, आप अपने भक्तों की सभी इच्छाओं को तुरंत पूर्ण करें, इसमें तनिक भी विलंब न करें।

O Shyam, fulfill all the desires of your devotees immediately, without any delay.
