बंशी शोभित कर मधुर, नील जलद तन श्याम।
अरुण अधर जनु बिम्बा फल, पीताम्बर शुभ साज॥
जय मनमोहन मदन छवि, कृष्णचन्द्र महाराज।
करहु कृपा हे रवि तनय, राखहु जन की लाज॥

जय यदुनन्दन जय जगवन्दन। जय वसुदेव देवकी नन्दन॥
जय यशुदा सुत नन्द दुलारे। जय प्रभु भक्तन के दृग तारे॥
जय नट-नागर नाग नथैया। कृष्ण कन्हैया धेनु चरैया॥
पुनि नख पर प्रभु गिरिवर धारो। आओ दीनन कष्ट निवारो॥
वंशी मधुर अधर धरी तेरी। होवे पूर्ण मनोरथ मेरो॥
आओ हरि पुनि माखन चाखो। आज लाज भारत की राखो॥
गोल कपोल, चिबुक अरुणारे। मृदु मुस्कान मोहिनी डारे॥
रंजित राजिव नयन विशाला। मोर मुकुट वैजयंती माला॥
कुण्डल श्रवण पीतपट आछे। कटि किंकण मणिमय भूषन साजे॥
छवि अति सुन्दर अति मन भावे। देखत ही सब दुख बिसरावे॥

यह श्री कृष्ण चालीसा, जो कोई गावे।
सुख सम्पति से युक्त हो, सो नर भवसागर तर जावे॥

श्री कृष्णचन्द्र कृपालु प्रभु, कीजै दास पर ध्यान।
रखहु लाज मेरी अब, कीजै कृपा श्री भगवान्॥

Banshi shobhit kar madhur, neel jalad tan Shyam |

Aao Hari puni maakhan chakho | Aaj laaj Bharat ki rakho ||
Gol kapol, chibuk arunare | Mridu muskan mohini daare ||
Ranjit rajiv nayan vishala | Mor mukut Vaijayanti mala ||
Kundal shravan peetpat aachhe | Kati kinkin manimay bhushan saaje ||
Chhavi ati sundar ati man bhaave | Dekhat hi sab dukh bisraave ||

Yeh Shri Krishna Chalisa, jo koi gaave |
Sukh sampati se yukt ho, so nar bhavsagar tar jaave ||

Shri Krishnachandra Kripalu Prabhu, keejai das par dhyan |
Rakhahu laaj meri ab, keejai kripa Shri Bhagwan ||
अर्थ: जिनके मधुर हाथों में बंशी सुशोभित है, जिनका शरीर नीले मेघों के समान श्याम वर्ण का है। जिनके लाल होंठ बिम्बा फल जैसे प्रतीत होते हैं और जो सुन्दर पीताम्बर (पीले वस्त्र) धारण किए हुए हैं।
Whose sweet hands are adorned with a flute, whose body is dark like blue clouds. Whose red lips resemble the Bimba fruit, and who is beautifully dressed in yellow garments.
अर्थ: हे मन को मोहने वाले, कामदेव के समान सुन्दर छवि वाले, कृष्णचन्द्र महाराज की जय हो। हे सूर्यपुत्र (यमराज या सूर्य के पुत्र के रूप में कृष्ण का एक रूप), मुझ पर कृपा करें और अपने भक्तों की लाज (मान-सम्मान) की रक्षा करें।
Victory to Krishnachandra Maharaj, who enchants the mind and possesses beauty like Kamadeva. O son of the Sun (a reference to Krishna's connection to Surya or as Yama's brother, or even a general address to a powerful deity), bestow your grace upon me and protect the honor of your devotees.
अर्थ: हे यदुवंश को आनंदित करने वाले, हे सम्पूर्ण जगत द्वारा वन्दनीय, हे वसुदेव और देवकी के पुत्र, आपकी जय हो।
Victory to the delight of the Yadu dynasty, the one worshipped by the entire universe! Victory to the son of Vasudeva and Devaki!
अर्थ: हे यशोदा के पुत्र, हे नन्द बाबा के प्यारे, हे प्रभु, आप भक्तों की आँखों के तारे (अत्यंत प्रिय और प्रकाशमान) हैं, आपकी जय हो।
Victory to the son of Yashoda, the beloved of Nanda! O Lord, you are the star of the devotees' eyes (most beloved and illuminating)!
अर्थ: हे श्रेष्ठ नट (लीलाधारी), हे चतुर नागर, हे कालिया नाग का दमन करने वाले, हे कृष्ण कन्हैया, हे गायों को चराने वाले, आपकी जय हो।
Victory to the supreme actor (performer of divine pastimes), the clever and charming one, the subduer of the Kaliya serpent! Victory to Krishna Kanhaiya, the cowherd!
अर्थ: हे प्रभु, आपने अपने नख पर गोवर्धन पर्वत को धारण किया था। हे दीनों के पालक, आकर हमारे कष्टों का निवारण करें।
O Lord, who held the great Govardhan mountain on Your fingernail, please come and alleviate the sufferings of the humble and distressed.
अर्थ: हे प्रभु, आपके मधुर अधरों पर सुशोभित वंशी की ध्वनि सुनकर मेरे सभी मनोरथ पूर्ण हो जाएँ।
O Lord, by hearing the sweet melody of the flute held upon Your beautiful lips, may all my desires be fulfilled.
अर्थ: हे हरि, आइए और पुनः माखन का स्वाद चखिए। आज आप भारतवर्ष की (हमारी) लाज की रक्षा कीजिए।
Come, O Hari, and taste the butter once more. Today, please protect the honor of Bharat (our honor).
अर्थ: आपके गोल-मटोल गाल, लालिमायुक्त ठोड़ी और कोमल मुस्कान मन को मोह लेती है।
Your round cheeks, reddish chin, and gentle smile are utterly enchanting.
अर्थ: आपके कमल के समान विशाल और सुंदर नेत्र हैं, सिर पर मोर मुकुट सुशोभित है और गले में वैजयंती माला विराजमान है।
Your large, beautiful lotus-like eyes are captivating; a peacock feather crown adorns Your head, and a Vaijayanti garland rests around Your neck.
अर्थ: आपके कानों में कुण्डल सुशोभित हैं, शरीर पर पीताम्बर (पीले वस्त्र) अत्यंत मनोहारी लग रहे हैं, और आपकी कमर में मणियों से जड़ी हुई किंकिणी (करधनी) शोभायमान है।
Beautiful earrings adorn Your ears, a radiant yellow garment graces Your divine form, and a jeweled waistband with tiny bells exquisitely decorates Your waist.
अर्थ: आपकी छवि अत्यंत सुंदर है और हृदय को परम प्रिय लगती है। आपके इस दिव्य रूप के दर्शन मात्र से ही समस्त दुःख और क्लेश विस्मृत हो जाते हैं।
Your divine form is supremely beautiful and deeply captivating to the heart. Merely beholding this enchanting vision causes all sorrows and afflictions to be forgotten.
अर्थ: जो कोई भी इस श्री कृष्ण चालीसा का श्रद्धापूर्वक गान करता है, वह मनुष्य सुख और समस्त प्रकार की संपत्ति से परिपूर्ण हो जाता है, और अंततः इस संसार रूपी भवसागर को पार कर जाता है।
Whoever devoutly recites this Shri Krishna Chalisa becomes endowed with happiness and all forms of prosperity, and ultimately, that person crosses the ocean of worldly existence.
अर्थ: हे कृपालु प्रभु श्री कृष्णचन्द्र, आप अपने इस दास पर कृपापूर्वक ध्यान दीजिए। हे श्री भगवान, अब मेरी लाज (मान-सम्मान) की रक्षा कीजिए और मुझ पर अपनी असीम कृपा बरसाइए।
O merciful Lord Shri Krishnachandra, please cast Your benevolent gaze upon this servant. O Shri Bhagwan, now protect my honor and bestow Your boundless grace upon me.
